2nd Annual Coldest Night of the Year

On Saturday, February 25th, hundreds of you showed up on Magnolia Street to participate in our second annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk! Not only did this event bring together over 300 community members in solidarity of our work to end homelessness, it also raised over $62,000 to support our homeless response programs in the year ahead.

Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is a winter walk, a family-friendly event with both two- and five- kilometer options beginning and ending at Miriam’s House. The Lead Sponsor for the walk and the lead team for fundraising (for the second year in a row!) was Foster Fuels; their enthusiasm for ensuring everyone has the warmth and safety of a home is so inspiring! Walkers enjoyed a rest stop hosted by our friends at First Christian Church and sponsored by Luper Team Mortgage, and they were cheered on by a robust squad of route volunteers along the Rivermont Avenue course. Delicious welcome-back treats were provided by Soup22, Montana Plains Bakery, and Starbucks along with last year’s fan favorite, returning for a second year—hundreds of delicious homemade cookies prepared by Karen McBride!

Thanks to Riverside Runners, Golf Park Coffee, and Rivermont Pizza, we had wonderful door prizes and music to keep everyone’s energy high during the cold walk. The event would not have been possible without our generous route and community sponsors: Rose Computers, Bank of the James, The Virginian Hotel, Peery & Woolwine Family Dentistry, English Construction, and Turn & Burn Cleaning; thank you!

We are grateful to all of you that bundled up and showed up to raise funds to support our work in ending homelessness. In the year ahead hundreds of homeless children and adults will benefit because of the success of this event!

We hope to see many more of you for our 3rd Annual Coldest Night of the Year walk on February 24, 2024
