Key Member Spotlight: Larry Taylor

This spring, we formalized our group of incredible monthly givers and launched The Key! Larry Taylor became a monthly supporter of Miriam’s House over the summer, and in the midst of this pandemic, ongoing gifts have never been more critical. We reached out to Larry to learn more about his commitment to our work through his recurring gifts.

MIRIAM’S HOUSE (MH): THERE ARE SO MANY GREAT NONPROFITS IN THE COMMUNITY. TELL US WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE TO SUPPORT MIRIAM’S HOUSE?

Larry Taylor (LT): During the summer of 2019, I had the privilege of being one of the artists featured in the Miriam’s House’s No Place Like Home Art Campaign. Through this experience I learned about the mission of Miriam’s House, and I wanted to find a way to further support the organization’s cause.

MH: WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO GIVE MONTHLY?

LT: I give monthly because helping out those in need is a daily task. I’ve been blessed to have the means to contribute monthly, and I hope that I am able to continue to do so in the future.

MH: ANYTHING ELSE YOU LIKE TO SHARE WITH THE BROADER COMMUNITY TO INSPIRE THEM TO JOIN THE KEY?

LT: Homelessness is a real issue. It’s a problem that doesn’t have a fixed face or easily identifiable features. We have and will encounter people who are homeless and in need of essential needs on a daily basis. Miriam’s House is an organization that has been helping the homeless throughout the city find homes and hope for over 25 years. Our donations are essential to the organizations’s operation and goals in combating the issue of homelessness throughout the city of Lynchburg.

When not helping to end homelessness in Lynchburg, Larry can be found working on homes throughout the city or contributing to the local music and arts scene.

Members of The Key, like Larry, have committed to financially supporting Miriam’s House through a donation amount of their choosing. The support of these engaged and passionate community members ensures that hundreds of homeless families and individuals are given not only the physical key of a home but keys to independence, opportunity, and safety. This transformative group is empowering lives and unlocking homes and hopes for individuals in this community, and we are so grateful.
