2019: Celebrating 25 Years, 2,500 Lives Changed

We are filled with excitement at Miriam’s House as we celebrate our 25th anniversary!

In January 1994, we opened our doors on Magnolia Street to provide safety and housing for women and their children in the Lynchburg community who were experiencing homelessness. Our co-founders, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Forsyth and Rev. Bev Cosby, met together in 1992 and began imagining a home of stability where homeless families could rebuild their lives. Prior to opening, Bev described Miriam’s House as, “another community of hope in the city for those who’ve come to the end of the road and know not where to run to take the next step to begin the journey toward wholeness, dignity and self-esteem.” For the past 25 years, Miriam’s House has lived up to this vision by providing hope, healing and dignity to those ‘at the end of the road’.  

Over the course of our history, we have been so fortunate to have had the whole-hearted, generous support of this community which has allowed us to impact so many. Your solidarity in our mission to end homeless and rebuild lives has allowed us to thrive in our work.
