Verizon Foundation Grant Miriam's House has received a $5,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation for Domestic Violence Prevention. With the grant funds, Miriam's House will expand efforts to provide support services, training and referral services for residents to prevent recurrences of domestic violence. Through the program, residents will gain an understanding of the dynamics of family violence and the value of safety planning for themselves and their children. Family violence survivors will have individual safety plans at discharge. Residents will understand the importance of seeking legal protections for themselves and their children. Additionally, children will learn to recognize safe and healthy boundaries. Grant for Mental Health Assistance Project Miriam's House has received a $5,000 grant from The Centra Foundation to support the Mental Health Assistance Project. The funds will be used for mental health counseling, testing and medications when other forms of assistance have been exhausted. Mark your calendars now for the 2010 Luncheon on Wednesday, May 19th!
