The Basic Concept Of Miriam’s House Is Responsibility.

Learning To Make Healthy Choices And Living With The Consequences Of Those Choices Are The Basis Of A Responsible Lifestyle.

PROGRAM FEE: Miriam's House is a low-income housing program. Resident pay a program fee based on their income.
MEETINGS: Residents are required to attend “House” meetings, “Positive Peer Culture” meetings, Educational Groups and Parenting Classes.
INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS PLAN: Each resident will work an “Individual Success Plan” developed with the assistance of Miriam’s House staff. As part of the Life Action Plan, residents participate in Money Management training. Money Management training assists residents in becoming financially independent and preparing to move into permanent housing.
EDUCATION: Residents must begin their GED if necessary. Residents may also attend school or job training.
EMPLOYMENT: Residents must engage in 40 hours of productive, purposeful activity each week. If residents do not have a 40-hour job, they must add constructive hours to their part-time job. If unemployed, residents’ full-time job is to find a job.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE: Residents must be alcohol and drug free at all times. Random drug screens will be administered to ALL residents. Residents in recovery must attend AA/NA meetings and follow the recommendations of their substance abuse therapist.
 
Child’s Development Plan
EDUCATION: Children attend Bedford Hills Elementary School. School-aged children attend a before & after-school program chosen by the parent and their counselor.
HEALTH CARE:Regular check-ups and immunizations are administered. Other health care needs will be addressed as they apply to each individual.
PARENTING:

Mothers are asked to define specific parenting skills they would like to practice or learn.
