3rd Annual Coldest Night of the Year

On Saturday, February 24th, our community once again came together on Magnolia Street to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those experiencing homelessness. The 3rd Annual Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk was a resounding success, with over 400 participants joining forces to support our mission of ending homelessness.

We are thrilled to announce that this year's event raised over $68,000, thanks to the generosity and dedication of our supporters. These funds will play a crucial role in sustaining our homeless response programs throughout the coming year.

The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk is a beloved winter tradition. This family-friendly community event offers participants a 2K or 5K distance option, starting and ending at Miriam’s House. Our Lead Sponsor once again was Foster Fuels. In addition to their sponsorship, they also led one of the top fundraising teams of walkers—their enthusiasm for ensuring everyone has the warmth and safety of a home is so inspiring!

Walkers enjoyed a rest stop hosted by our friends at First Christian Church (sponsored once again by at Luper Team Mortgage) and were cheered on by a robust squad of route volunteers along the Rivermont Avenue course. To warm up our returning walkers, delicious welcome-back refreshments were provided by Meriwether Godsey, Montana Plains Bakery, and Starbucks along with everyone’s favorite—delicious homemade cookies prepared by long-time Miriam’s House supporter, Karen McBride!

Thanks to Riverside Runners, Oliver’s on Rivermont, Golf Park Coffee, and Rivermont Pizza, we had wonderful door prizes and music to keep everyone’s energy high during the cold walk. The event would not have been possible without our generous route and community sponsors: English Construction, Bank of the James, Peery & Woolwine Family Dentistry, Rose Computers, , The Virginian Hotel, and Wooldridge Heating Air & Electrical—their support underscores the collective effort required to address homelessness in our community.

Together, we are making strides towards a future where everyone in our community has a safe and warm place to call home. Thank you for being a part of this journey. We are grateful to all of you that bundled up, braved the rain, and showed up to raise funds to support our work in ending homelessness. In the year ahead hundreds of homeless children and adults will benefit because of the success of this event!

We hope to see many more of you for our 4th Annual Coldest Night of the Year walk on February 22, 2025!
